Message from the PrincipalGreetings From The Principal Welcome to the 2011-2012 Crystal Beach School year. Our TEAM at Crystal Beach takes great pride in our students, staff, school councils, community and the fact that Crystal Beach is an outstanding elementary school. The students are courteous, friendly, and socially concerned, “honouring and respecting one another”. The teaching and support staff are proud of the school and are involved throughout the school and community. The parents are committed to the school and support the initiatives developed by staff members; all in the name of “what is best for OUR children”. Crystal Beach is a school with a continuing record toward improvement, a faculty that is professionally skilled and personally committed to meeting the learning needs of all students, a student body which is motivated to perform well, and parents that actively support our learning community. The District School Board of Niagara has adopted rigorous standards for learning in Literacy and numeracy, adopted new language and math programs/materials and provides staff training for all elementary teachers in initiatives such as Professional Learning Communities and Assessment & Evaluation for Student Success. We create and provide innovative programs to meet the needs of our broad range of learners. The mission of Crystal Beach Public School is to provide each child with a strong foundation in academic skills while nurturing social development. We embrace the belief that all students can learn and become responsible, productive members of a competitive and ever-changing society. Our staff consistently utilizes strategies to provide a comprehensive and challenging curriculum rooted in promoting mutual respect and developing cultural pride. We strive to broaden the base of communication between school, parents and our community. Crystal Beach Public School has a shared decision making process that includes staff, parents, and students. We invite parents to become active members of Crystal Beach by visiting their child's classroom, assisting the teacher with field trips and special projects, participating in school wide and School Council & Fundraising Committee sponsored events, and volunteering in a variety of ways. We value a strong partnership between parents and the staff. Parents' active participation and positive support of the programs and teachers help make our school richer and a more successful experience for all students. The students are why we are here. They not only excel academically, but are also learning about respect, ethical values, and social skills, which we at Crystal Beach Public School consider to be equally important.
